Dalaman
Dalaman is a small district on Turkey’s southwestern Turquoise Coast, nestled between the ancient Lycian hills and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean. Best known for Dalaman Airport—the main gateway for visitors headed to nearby resorts like Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, and Marmaris—the town itself offers a charming slice of rural Turkish life: orange groves, pine-clad mountains, and the winding Dalaman River, where you can enjoy rafting or riverside picnics. The surrounding region is rich in history, with Carian rock tombs carved into limestone cliffs and the Lycian necropolis at Kaunos not far downstream. Though Dalaman’s beaches are quieter than the glitzy resorts farther east, they’re prized for their golden sands and unspoiled coves. Local agriculture (especially citrus fruits and olives) combines with a growing ecotourism scene—hiking, canoeing, bird-watching—to make Dalaman a peaceful hub for travelers seeking both convenience and natural beauty
